The inspiration for EccoDrone came from a hiking trip to Vermont's mountain ranges, where many objects littered the trails, which truly diminished the beauty of the wild wilderness. Using our knowledge of technology, we sought to develop an automatic drone system that could detect trash. We soon found other problems that could also be solved with drone technology, and thus came EccoDrone.

EccoDrone began as a way for us to monitor and keep track of our natural wilderness without disturbing the spaces around us. Many impacts on the world are man-made, and we strive to reduce that impact by using technology to keep monitoring our changing environments without disturbing them. We partnered with beach clean-up and park management organizations around Chicago in efforts to create a more efficient way to hold beach and park cleanups.
